The Arbutus Texana is commonly known as the Lady Legs, Lady's Legs, Madrona, Madrone, Madrono, Manzanita, Naked Indian, Nuzu-ndu, Texas Arbutus, Texas Madrone as well as Texas Madrono.

The current scientific name of Texas madrone is Arbutus xalapensis Kunth (Ericaceae).

Texas madrone grows from the Edwards Plateau of south-central Texas to Trans-Pecos Texas and southeastern New Mexico . It occurs southward through Mexico into Guatemala .
